Alternatives Guide
This guide is a plain-language comparison of product formats and quote scopes. FrameGate Sourcing is an independent sourcing partner. Leisure homes is the search that brought the question here. The guide does not rank that brand, and it does not claim original-brand supply. Use it to see which choices are still open before you accept an alternative.

| Question | Volumetric modules | Panelized construction |
|---|---|---|
| Where work happens | More finish can be done off site | More assembly happens on the lot |
| Transport | The transport envelope is the room itself | Panels may stack, then need a dry set sequence |
| Site risk | Lifting and road permits dominate | Weather on open framing dominates |
Foldable packages add a third state: folded for the road, unfolded for occupancy. Do not price the folded size as the lived-in floor area.
| Question | Standardized unit | Custom engineered system |
|---|---|---|
| When it fits | The lot accepts published module dimensions | Span, soil or local rule breaks the published box |
| What you still check | Options, exclusions and the code path | Calculations for the actual wind speed and snow |
| What it does not mean | Faster paperwork is not an approval | A custom frame is not a finished house |
Clear span, bay spacing and eave height describe geometry. They do not replace a foundation interface or a fire-resistance rating.
| Question | Shell or kit | Turnkey scope |
|---|---|---|
| Usually inside | Primary frame and a stated envelope | More of the set, stitch and finish list |
| Often outside | Foundation, utilities, permits, tax | Anything the supplier listed as excluded |
| How to read price | Low unit price can omit the site | A larger total can still hide a local trade |
Insulated metal panel, purlin and girt packages, and secondary framing should say who installs them. Thermal transmittance is an energy target, not a line you can infer from a render.
FrameGate Sourcing does not publish supplier drawings. Ask the quoting factory for the set that matches the system it named. Group the request so a missing file is obvious.
Leave seismic design category, ground snow load and wind exposure category blank until a project engineer supplies them. A blank is more useful than a number copied from a different county.
Name the rooms that are finished in the plant and the rooms that stop at substrate. Interior paint, floor coverings and appliances change both price and damage risk in transit.
A logo on a listing, a general mention of AWS D1.1, or a photo of a finished porch is not evidence that the alternative you were quoted is approved for your lot. Match the document to the system, the plant and the jurisdiction.
Send the format you want compared and the scope line you want priced. FrameGate Sourcing will pass that packet to alternative factories and return the gaps with the numbers.
